Why join SDLOA?

Our founding group of like-minded South Dakotans formed in 2019, with over 2 million acres represented. We know what it takes to make a living from the land. In our opinion, there are too many policy debates that take place that can positively or negatively impact our lives. That’s why we are here. We formed because we believe landowners and the commercial hunting industry in South Dakota deserved a dedicated voice at the state level. We are establishing a record of success and finding common ground.

As a landowner, outfitter, or one of the thousands of businesses that we support, you’ve likely felt the heavy hand of government. We’re here- to maintain a better balance and fair policies that keep our issues front and center.

The South Dakota Landowner & Outfitter Alliance was established in January 2019. We represent a cross section of East and West River landowners, outfitters, guides and sportsmen/ women from across South Dakota.

The board of directions who formed this Alliance collectively control access to more than 2 million acres. We’re South Dakotan’s, farmers, ranchers, business owners, employers, employees and we’re all equally committed to the traditions that made South Dakota a destination state for hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. We will defend and advocate for the mutual interests of private landowners, commercial hunting operations, guides, conservation and habitat efforts- as well as the communities and industries that we support.

Hunting supports thousands of jobs and provides nearly a billion dollar economic impact in South Dakota. The economic benefit that we provide supports local industries and jobs- in small and larger towns across the state. Landowners, and their personal property rights, play a critical role in that success. We seek to protect property rights, support our hunting tradition, seek fairness at the state governance level, and provide a true voice for this billion dollar industry.
